ELLIPSE Peninsula Aids Services, a community-based nonprofit direct services agency, is the primary multiservice care provider in San Mateo County. Services are provided for the HIV infected and affected men, women, and children in the county. Services are provided through a comprehensive nonmedical case-management program that includes advocacy, emotional and practical support, nutritional support, financial assistance, and support/information groups.

San Mateo County AIDS Program is a multiservice county AIDS agency providing prevention, health care, social services, and advocacy. The mission of the program is to prevent the spread of HIV and to care for persons living with HIV disease. Culturally sensitive services include a model HIV prevention outreach program, HIV testing and counseling, case management and benefits assistance, outpatient care, client support groups, an early intervention project, mental health and substance abuse counseling, a drop-in center for people with HIV, clinical treatment trials, referrals for help with housing, food, dental, and hospice care, and ADAP medication subsidies.

Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) provides evaluation and state-of-the-art treatment to veterans who are addicted to alcohol or other drugs. ATS consists of residential inpatient programs, an inpatient detoxification and evaluation program, a day hospital program, a methadone maintenance program, and an outpatient clinic.

Provides a comprehensive network of programs which serves the needs of youth and families in high-risk situations.Youth and Family Assistance oversees a portfolio of nine programs that focus on violence and abuse prevention, runaway/homeless youth, substance abuse treatment, and family support. The Sheriff's Area OES operates under a Joint Powers Agreement signed by the 20 cities and the County of San Mateo.
