SMCMA COMMITTEES

Finance
To review and advise the Board of Directors on all fiscal matters of the Association, including an annual review of the audit report and annual budget of income and expenditures.


Editorial 
To assist with the editorial content of the SMCMA Bulletin through the acquisition of current and informative articles for publication.

Environmental Health and Public Health
To investigate and study environmental and public health concerns and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Fee and Insurance Mediation
To review patient complaints concerning physician fees and recommend appropriate remedies as indicated; to mediate differences of opinions of patients, physicians and insurance companies concerning coverage for services rendered and for fees.

Legislative
To monitor federal and state legislation on a continuing basis; to periodically meet with local legislators for the purpose of discussing pending legislation and organized medicine’s attitude on particular legislation.

Medical-Legal Liaison
To promote better relationships between the medical and legal professions; to review matters of mutual interest to the medical and legal professions concerning policies and procedures.

Medical Review and Advisory
To serve as a consultant for the Association’s group professional liability carrier by providing review and advice on malpractice claims.

Professional Relations
To investigate and attempt to resolve questions regarding standards of medical care and medical ethics.
