Walk with a Doc is a free program of the San Mateo County Medical Association Community Service Foundation that encourages physical activity and aims to reverse the effects of a sedentary lifestyle. Walk with a Doc provides an opportunity for community members to lace up their tennis shoes and enjoy a walk with local physicians while discussing healthy living and health-related issues along the way.
Our first walk of 2017 will take place on Saturday, April 29, at Seal Point in San Mateo. Last year we had more than 40 walkers on some occasions along with our fabulous physician volunteers. It was perfect weather and everyone had a wonderful time.
We are thrilled our program is so popular, but we desperately need more physician volunteers. Volunteers are needed for every walk. The commitment (one hour) is minimal, and the walkers are so grateful for your efforts. SMCMA staff takes care of everything--all you need to do is show up!
