SMCMA Announces Two Upcoming Events April 19, 2019 Areas of interest(s): annual meeting, doctors lounge, hutchinson, jackie speier, smcma The SMCMA is hosting two upcoming events that you’ll want to make sure are on your calendar – The Doctor’s Lounge with Dr. James L. Hutchinson (May 9) and the 2019 Annual Gala (June 28). The quarterly Doctor’s Lounge event will take place Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM at the Magnolia of Millbrae and will feature a book release of long-time SMCMA member and pioneering physician, James L. Hutchinson’s memoir, A Short Glimpse of a Long Road. The book reflects on Dr. Hutchinson’s life in medicine in San Mateo over the past 66 years. In addition, Dr. Hutchinson’s daughter, Karen, a renowned concert pianist, will play at the event. The event is free to SMCMA members, and registration will open soon. The next event is the SMCMA Annual Meeting & Gala, which will be hosted at the Hotel NIA in Menlo Park on Friday, June 28, 2019, from 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Congresswoman Jackie Speier will be the keynote speaker, and will also be signing copies of her memoir, Undaunted: Surviving Jonestown, Summoning Courage, and Fighting Back. Hosted at the new and hip Hotel NIA in Menlo Park, the Annual Gala will be an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments and people who have made the SMCMA so successful over the past year.
