Second PPE Event Distributes More Than $51,000 in Equipment to Local Doctors

Over the past weekend, the San Mateo County Medical Association (SMCMA) donated more than $51,000 worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) to 110 physicians representing 46 practice locations in San Mateo County. This was the second such event to provide PPE to local physicians and comes as part of a donation of equipment from the Tencent Charity Foundation to provide small and solo physicians with PPE.

Practices with 10 or fewer physicians were eligible to receive a three-month supply of PPE to ensure they can reopen with proper safety precautions in place. The donated PPE was made available to all qualifying physicians’ practices, whether or not they are SMCMA members.

“Even though this event was tremendously successful, we still have PPE available to distribute,” noted SMCMA Executive Director, Keith Darby, CAE. “We are currently working with the other counties in the Bay Area to ensure that as many practices here are provided for.”
